The new Wilson Pro Staff 97L V14.0 racket features the new minimalist, iridescent design from Wilson. The bronze glints from brown to burgundy, depending on the light, for a unique look on court.
Lighter and more maneuverable than the classic version at 290 grams (unstrung), this model is designed for players seeking the sensations of the range while benefiting from lower inertia. This tennis racket features the classic headsize 626cm², offering great control combined with 32.5cm of balance for excellent maneuverability. The dense 16x19 string pattern provides more pop than an 18x20, but more control than a classic 16x19.
This new version benefits from Paradigm Bending technology. This is a carbon-fiber construction that optimizes flex between the racket head and the handle for greater flexibility without loss of power.
To reduce the product's impact on the environment, bumper and grommet set, eyelets and tips are made from Arkema's biosourced Agiplast, which is more environmentally friendly while maintaining high performance.
When our team tested the racket, we immediately noticed its excellent maneuverability and remarkable control. Despite its lighter weight, the racket is stable from the baseline. Its tight string pattern, combined with Braid 45 and Paradigm Bending technologies, provides feel and precision with added flexibility and comfort.
With a weight of 290 grams and a balance of 32.5 cm, this racket is highly responsive to groundstrokes and responds perfectly to explosive shots, giving the player great confidence.
Volley enthusiasts will appreciate the racket's stability and remarkable feel at net. The 97L makes it possible to be quicker on reflex volleys.
However, to take full advantage of the racket from the baseline, you'll need good arm speed and good centering (headsize 97 obliges). If you find the racket too demanding for your game, the Wilson Blade 100L may be a good alternative.
On serve, the racket's maneuverability and precision make it easier to find the sweet spot.
In short, the new version of the Wilson Pro Staff 97L v14 retains the DNA of the Pro Staff range, while improving comfort and precision without compromising ball speed and stability.
This racket is ideal for players who like to take control of the game by varying their shots early, accelerating and coming up for net. However, to get the most out of it, it's best to have an intermediate to expert level of play. If you have this level of play, you'll be able to exploit this racket's capabilities to the full.
