WILSON SHIFT 99 RACKET v1 Roland Garros 2024
The Wilson Shift 99 v1 Roland Garros 2024 racket is designed to provide lift and precise control between power and control. With good versatility, it is aimed at players who want to fully exploit their potential by generating devastating effects. With a 639 cm² head size and a 16x20 string pattern, it optimizes control for controlled lifted trajectories. The low balance of 31.5 cm will allow for good maneuverability of the frame.
Extreme Tennis Test of the Wilson Shift 99 v1 Roland Garros 2024
Wilson has once again hit hard with the design of the Shift. The iridescent gray paint is simply beautiful!
We strung this racket with Solinco Confidential 1.25 at 23/22. The first strikes offer us firm comfort but incredible stability. On this point, it is certainly one of the best rackets on the market.
However, we found it so firm that we did a second test with a tension below 21/20. It turned out that we benefited more from the benefits of this frame at this tension. The use of a smaller head size and a tighter string pattern than that of classic rackets allowed us to reduce the tension, which improved our playability.
Once the right string is in place at the right tension, you immediately realize that the racket offers exceptional stability and very good striking sensations. One downside is that it is a racket that requires a good arm speed to exploit it. Exit the ease of play of the Wilson Clash, this Wilson Shift 99 will reward you when you fully commit to your strikes.
The spin we felt was good without being a ""spin machine"".
It is in the backcourt and at the net that we felt the potential of this racket. The ball quickly comes out of the racket while being in control. The comfort at the sweetspot level is pleasant, but remains firm outside (especially at the head of the racket).
The maneuverability is excellent thanks to a slightly handle-heavy balance.
At the net, the racket reacts with precision and ease.
When serving, we appreciated the precise balance between control and power.
This Wilson Shift range is positioned between the Wilson Blade range (which offers more control) and the Wilson Clash range (which offers more power).
