Best tennis string: the guide to choose well

The tennis string has become, over the years, an ultra-technical product with many variants. It is now essential to choose the right string to exploit the full potential of your game, but also of your racket.

Since Gustavo Kuerten won Roland Garros with the Luxilon Big Banger Alu Power, tennis strings have constantly evolved: shape, stiffness, materials... But all serve the same objective: to bring maximum performance to your game. Today, a new type of string is experiencing a meteoric rise: the hybrid. While the objective remains the same, their performance and use vary depending on the references.
To help you in your choice, here is our selection of the best tennis strings.

The best monofilament strings

The monofilament family offers a high level of control and durability. While there are comfortable soft monofilaments, they are generally stiffer than multifilaments. Monofilament strings do not move or move very little upon impact; they can be structured to provide maximum spin (square, hexagonal shape, etc.). We recommend monos to adult players who use a racket weighing more than 285g (a monofilament on too light a racket causes maximum bad vibrations). This is the most used type of string at a high level (strung in a hybrid with gut or in a “full bed”).

The best multifilament strings

Multifilament strings are often comfortable and powerful. The multitude of fibers that compose them absorb vibrations particularly well. They tend to move upon impact and fray over time. While they may seem more fragile than monofilaments, they make it easier to know when to change your string and thus avoid a sudden, unexpected break. Children up to 15/16 years old (except in exceptional cases) should play with multifilament strings to ensure optimal comfort. We recommend using multifilament strings on rackets weighing less than 285g, as well as for senior players or those experiencing arm pain.
