Extreme Tennis offers a wide range of rackets for men, women, adults and children at the best prices. But before proudly displaying your new racket on the court, follow these few tips.
Choosing the right tennis racket is essential to making progress and having fun. It is therefore important to identify your needs and your type of game. Ask yourself the right questions without overestimating your level of play. Are you an attacker or a defender? Perhaps you are looking for a racquet that offers maximum power or a frame that offers great maneuverability. Our customer service team will be able to advise you on the right racquet for your style of play so that you can progress with confidence.
A heavy racquet provides more power and less maneuverability than a light racquet. A beginner should select a racquet weighing less than 290 grams. An experienced player should select a racquet weighing more than 290 grams. A woman should select a frame between 260 grams and 280 grams. And a woman with an advanced to expert level will choose a racquet above 280 grams. If you are not sure, we advise you to choose a lighter racket, because you can add lead strips to make it heavier.
We advise you on the choice of grip size for your tennis racket. There are 6 handle sizes:
To know exactly what size handle you need to have less than a centimetre between your ring finger and the palm of your hand when you pick up the racket. You can consult our guide to find out which handle size is right for you.
The head size of your tennis racket significantly influences your game. There are different types of head sizes:
Balance will influence the manoeuvrability and power of your tennis racket. A neutral balance is about 32cm. A head balance is therefore higher than 32cm and the higher it is the more power you will have, but beware, because the racket also becomes more difficult to handle. It is not recommended to play with a racquet with a head balance higher than 34cm as you will get forearm pain more easily. Note that lightweight rackets under 280 grams should have a head balance to provide power. A tennis racket with a handle balance under 32cm will offer more control and more manoeuvrability.
The choice of string pattern is essential if you want to bring more spin to your game or more control and precision. There are two main string patterns:
The denser the string pattern, the more control and precision it offers, while an open string pattern provides more power and spin.
A stiff racquet offers power and has a stiffness rating above 67ra. While a soft racquet has a stiffness rating under 61ra and will offer control, comfort and feel. The racquet is considered semi-rigid between 61 and 67ra.
The thicker the profile, the more power you will get, while a thin profile will provide more control.
The choice of string is essential to optimise the performance of your racket. Our wide range of strings ensures the perfect choice to refine your feel or modify the behaviour of your frame. Ask our team to advise you on the best tennis racket and stringing to give you maximum pleasure on the tennis court.
