Which Tennis Racket for Which Age and Height
Your child’s age — and more importantly, their height — are key factors when choosing the right tennis racket. The younger and smaller the child, the shorter and lighter the racket should be. Racket sizes are usually expressed in inches. Here's a helpful size guide based on height and age:
- Height: 80 to 89 cm – Age: 2 to 3 years → 17-inch racket
- Height: 89 to 100 cm – Age: 3 to 4 years → 19-inch racket
- Height: 101 to 112 cm – Age: 4 to 6 years → 21-inch racket
- Height: 113 to 125 cm – Age: 6 to 8 years → 23-inch racket
- Height: 126 to 140 cm – Age: 8 to 10 years → 25-inch racket
- Height: 141 to 165 cm – Age: 10 to 12 years → 26-inch racket

Junior Tennis Racket Ranges
Playing Level and Materials
Junior tennis rackets are made from lightweight materials for better handling and durability. Beginner models are usually made from aluminium and composite. If your child is moving toward a more advanced level or starting competition, a graphite-composite frame is a better fit. Aluminium rackets are typically more affordable than graphite ones.
