Size and Age

Depending on your child's age and height, they will need a junior racket of varying sizes. Racket sizes are expressed in inches. The younger and smaller your child is, the smaller the size in inches of the racket that will suit them, and the weight will be lighter. Wilson Junior rackets range from 19 to 26 inches. Here is a guide to the racket sizes to prioritize based on age that can help you before moving to an adult racket:

  • Height 80 to 100 cm – Age 3 to 4 years: 17-inch racket
  • Height 101 to 110 cm – Age 4 to 5 years: 19-inch racket
  • Height 111 to 120 cm – Age 5 to 6 years: 21-inch racket
  • Height 121 to 130 cm – Age 6 to 8 years: 23-inch racket
  • Height 131 to 140 cm – Age 7 to 9 years: 24-inch racket
  • Height 141 to 150 cm – Age 8 to 10 years: 25-inch racket
  • Height > 150 cm – Age 11 years and older: 26-inch racket

Level and Frequency of Play

If your child plays occasionally or is just starting out in tennis, their needs will be different. Generally, for a beginner junior, a aluminum racket is preferred, while children who have been playing for several years or competing will more often have graphite rackets. The price of these is often higher than that of aluminum rackets.
