Description

WILSON SHIFT 99 RACKET

The Wilson Shift 99 is a racquet developed to provide topspin and a precise balance between power and control. Endowed with good versatility, it is aimed at players wishing to fully exploit their gaming potential by generating devastating effects. With a head size of 639 cm² and a 16x20 string pattern, it optimizes control for controlled topspin trajectories. The low balance of 31.5 cm will allow good maneuverability of the frame.

Wilson Shift 99 Extreme Tennis Review

Wilson has once again hit it hard with the design of the Shift. The iridescent gray paint is simply stunning!

We strung this racquet with a Solinco Confidential 1.25 at 23/22. The first strikes give us firm comfort but incredible stability. On this point, it is certainly one of the best rackets on the market.

However, we found it so firm that we ran a second test with a tension below 21/20. It turned out that we enjoyed more of the benefits of this frame at this voltage. Using the smaller headsize and tighter string pattern than conventional racquets allowed us to reduce tension, which improved our playability.

Once the right string is set at the right tension, you immediately realize that the racquet offers exceptional stability as well as very good feeling when hitting. Small flat, it is a racket that requires good arm speed to exploit it. Forget about the easy playability of the Wilson Clash, this Wilson Shift 99 will reward you when you fully commit to your shots.

The spin seemed good to us without being a "spin machine".

It was in the baseline and volley game that we felt the potential of this racquet. The ball quickly exits the racket while being in control. The comfort at the sweetspot is pleasant, but remains firm outside (especially at the head of the racquet).

Maneuverability is excellent thanks to a slight balance in the handle.

At net, the racquet reacts with precision and ease.

In the service, we appreciated the precise balance between control and power.

This Wilson Shift range is positioned between the Wilson Blade range (which offers more control) and the Wilson Clash range (which offers more power).

WHAT KIND OF PLAYER IS THE WILSON SHIFT 99 INTENDED FOR?

This Wilson Shift 99 is particularly suitable for competitors looking for a versatile and stable racquet that offers a good balance between power and precision.
