There are several methods to increase the size of the handle of a tennis racket. Some are more complicated than others, but nothing insurmountable.
ADD AN OVERGRIP
The simplest and most logical method is to add the thickest overgrip possible to increase the thickness of the handle. You will gain half a size of grip. Do not add a second overgrip as this will round off the corners of the shaft. You will then lose feel.
ADD A HEAT-SHRINK SLEEVE
In order to use this option, you need to remove the original grip and apply the sleeve around the grip which will shrink when heated. Next, you will need to take a hair dryer and start at the base of the grip and work your way up. Leave the excess towards the base of the band which you will then cut off with a cutter.
ADD A SIZ-UP
Enlarging a tennis racket handle with a Siz-Up is a method we prefer to the shrink sleeve, because the technique is simpler. In addition, you retain the edges and reduce excess mass.
To do this, you need to remove the original grip and then place the 2 Siz Up shells on the grip by attaching the adhesive strips. Cut the Siz Up to fit the height of the handle. Then position your grip and the operation is finished.
ENLARGE THE GRIP SIZE WITH A HEAD SHELL
This method is only applicable to Head competition rackets. It requires a minimum of experience. Only Head rackets have interchangeable plastic shells. First you have to remove the grip, then the buttcap and then the plastic shells. Then place the new shells and the new buttcap. Staple the upper part of the buttcap to the two shells, preferably with a pneumatic stapler. Then position your grip (you will certainly need a new grip as the thickness has increased and your grip will be lower).
