Power and control
The string's rigid nature gives it excellent control. From the very first strokes, it's quite bluffing and can be ranked among the multifilaments offering the best level of precision. Power is not as high, although you'll find a relative reserve of power on hard hits.
Effect capture
On paper, the textured profile of this string should generate maximum spin on the ball. In fact, during our test, the RIP Control string gave us excellent ball scratching and a very pleasant spin sensation.
Comfort and forgiveness
The comfort and tolerance of this string lag behind that of other multifilaments. It's a fairly firm string that tolerates very little decentering. You'll need a minimum of technique and good ball penetration to get the most out of this string. Even though it's still a multi-filament string, comfort is at the low end of the range.
Durability and tension hold
The lifespan of the RIP Control is average. If you lift a lot, the string will tend to move easily, resulting in premature breakage. Also, we felt a noticeable loss of tension after a few hours' play.
Feel/feel/stiffness
This is a fairly firm string when struck. It approaches the feel of monofilament but is much more comfortable than monofilament. You'll get the most out of this string when you're hitting hard and lifting your ball, and you'll get the feel for it!
WHO SHOULD USE HEAD RIP CONTROL?
We recommend this string for players who want to rediscover the comfort of multi and generate lots of spin. If you can no longer play with monofilament because of the discomfort, then opt for this reference. On the other hand, if you're used to playing multi-filament and want to maximize control and effects, then this RIP Control is perfect for you!
