The Bullpadel Icon 27 comes from the collaboration between Bullpadel Lab and Juan Martín Díaz, world number one for fourteen years. It is a deliberately versatile diamond, built to dictate the rhythm from the back of the court and to finish points at the net.

Who is this racket for?

The advanced to expert player who wants a diamond shape without its usual punishing side. At 365 to 375 g, with a 38 mm profile, a 535 cm² face and a balance we measure at 26.3 cm, it stays remarkably even for the format: our readings place it more towards control than power, which is rare on a diamond.

The technologies explained

• Icon Core: the arms of the heart are twisted 25 degrees on the vertical axis, creating a controlled torsion that improves energy transfer to the ball at impact.
• X-Tend Carbon 12K faces: biaxially woven carbon with 12,000 filaments, whose medium stiffness combines power and control without forcing a compromise.
• MultiEVA core: three EVA layers of different densities, firmer on the outside for power, softer in the middle for tolerance.
• 3D Grain surface: a roughness pattern developed for this mould, maximising useful contact with the ball and spin generation.
• Hesacore, Vibradrive and Ease Vibe: a hexagonal grip, an elastomer in the handle and dampeners in the face, all filtering vibration.

Most diamonds demand a strong arm and punish any off-centre contact. The Icon takes the opposite route, and our measurements bear that out: a 26.3 cm balance, one of the least rigid chassis in the series and control scores above its power scores. The result is a pala that takes heavy topspin from the back of the court as readily as drop shots and slices at the net. The one thing to keep in mind is the weight, at the top of the range, which asks for a strong arm over time. The Custom Weight system then lets you load the head if you want to sharpen its character.
