The Siux Fenix Pro MAD Special Edition is the limited-run version of the Fenix Pro, the pala of Argentinian prodigy Leo Augsburger, in black. A diamond shape, a high balance and a build aimed entirely at power: this is a Pro range pala, the tier Siux reserves for players who dominate the court.

Who is this racket for?

The advanced to professional player with an attacking game. Siux rates its feel 10 out of 10 on its own hardness scale, which says a lot: this is a very stiff pala that rewards centred contact and asks for solid technique. A 38 mm profile, 360 to 375 g.

The technologies explained

• 12K carbon with a honeycomb structure: the 12K weave brings stiffness, the honeycomb spreads the load across the hitting surface.
• High-density EVA core: this is what delivers on smashes and heavy hitting, at the cost of reduced cushioning on slower balls.
• Diamond shape with a high balance: mass is concentrated in the head, maximising inertia when it is time to finish the point.
• Gloss finish with 3D texture: the surface grips the ball and increases spin on viboras and slices.
• Switch Strap System: an interchangeable wrist strap, replaced rather than left to wear out with the frame.

This is a specialist's pala rather than an all-rounder. The combination of 12K carbon, high-density EVA and a high balance focuses everything on one goal: finishing the point as soon as the ball goes up. In return it is slow to reset in tight exchanges, and the feel the brand rates 10 out of 10 leaves no margin on off-centre contact. One often overlooked plus: the Switch Strap wrist strap can be swapped, where on most palas it simply frays with no fix.
