X-Compare

X-Compare: laboratory measurements, our own rating scale.

X-Compare ratings start from physical measurements: dwell time, energy return, tension loss, string-on-string friction and more. Our own scale turns them into 6 criteria, each rated out of 100. Every string goes through the same grid, which makes for fair comparisons.

Description

Tecnifibre TGV Black 12m String

The Tecnifibre TGV string is the multifilament that provides the most comfort in our entire range of multifilament strings. Ideal for players suffering from tennis elbow, and contrary to its name, it is a string that is more focused on ball control, comfort, and feel.

However, power is a bit lacking (let's say it is decent but does not excel like in other areas). One strong point not to overlook is its excellent tension maintenance.

For the highest durability, prefer the 1.40 gauge.

If you want maximum ball speed, opt for the 1.25 gauge.

For the best balance of comfort, durability, and playability, prefer the 1.35 gauge.

OUR REVIEW OF TECNIFIBRE TGV

On the court, we greatly appreciated its high level of comfort because even on off-center hits, we did not experience any bad vibrations.

In terms of power, we have experienced better, it does not excel in this area and if this is your primary concern (comfort and power), you should consider the Tecnifibre NRG or the Tecnifibre Xone Biphase.

However, the control is excellent! The Tecnifibre TGV is not as flexible and provides a medium stiffness.

The spin potential is on the lower end compared to the competition.

Lastly, the Tecnifibre TGV string stands out for its exceptional tension maintenance. Even though it may move after a few hours of play, its tension maintenance holds up very well over time.

WHO DO WE RECOMMEND THE TECNIFIBRE TGV TO?

We recommend it to young demanding players who want a quality multifilament string that provides maximum control and comfort.

It is also suitable for players prone to forearm tendinitis.

In conclusion, the Tecnifibre TGV string is a premium string offering comfort, control, feel, and tension maintenance that can suit a wide range of players.

Used for a hybrid setup. The TGV adds flexibility and I no longer have arm pain. I will even test a full TGV setup at 23 kgs. (Translated review)
