For what type of game?
The main advantage of the Ultra range is the high power and stability of the Wilson racket which gives a very good feel to the shot. This range of tennis rackets is therefore perfect for defenders and baseline players who lack power in their game. It provides great ball speed making it easier to put away winning points from all areas of the court. If you are a player who lacks power and would like to have more speed and punch in your game, then the Ultra range is for you!
Which Wilson Ultra racket should I choose?
There are a number of different Wilson Ultra models that may suit your game. The Ultra 100 is designed for competitive players at 30/1 and above who want maximum ball speed and impact. The Wilson Ultra 100L will appeal to both recreational and club players with its excellent combination of power and maneuverability. The Wilson Ultra 108 racket is ideal for the senior player looking for the best combination of power, maneuverability and forgiveness. Finally, the Ultra 100UL is perfect for young players switching to their first adult racket in search of optimum power.
Technologies of the Ultra range
Wilson Ultra tennis rackets feature several technologies:
- Power Rib: consists of modifying the geometry of the core of the racket to stiffen it and thus gain in power and stability.
- Sweetspot Channel: Wilson has hollowed out the frame at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions to increase the sweetspot for more power and forgiveness;
- Power Profile: Increased thickness in the core and head area of the racket for more power and stability;
- Integrated PWS: provides more volume on both sides of the racket for more stability.
What strings to use on a Wilson Ultra?
We like the versatile strings on the Ultra 100 and 100L, but also the control-oriented strings to handle the power of the racket. We suggest you visit our strings page and filter on the benefits you want or contact our team to advise you on the most suitable string for your racket and your game. Please note however, that a multifilament string should be used on the Ultra 100UL racket to improve comfort. Indeed, the use of a monofilament on very light rackets would emit harmful vibrations (increased risk of tennis elbow).
